Your work is outstanding, and getting better and better each visit I make to your website. Thank you for embracing photojournalism with such passion and dedication. Your images and words are like a well choreographed dance!
I recently viewed: The Spiritual Heart of the City and the images were/are outstanding! I appretiate how you photographed each church, down the center of the nave, in perfect balance and harmony. In a world so "off-balance" these days, and our country becoming more divided, it was comforting to experience the Holy Spirit gently "re-balanced" my focus, even after the Chrismas season.
I have prayed in each of these churches and was blessed to have lived next door to one of them for a number of years. Thank you for your beautiful photography, Jeff.
I recently subscribed to this Substack because of the outstanding photography, but have come to appreciate the quality of the writing. Thank you for both, Jeffrey.
Jeff, I wish I had been a Catholic in my 20s when I was often in the city. Many of these magnificent churches were only blocks from where my former in-laws lived. They are awe-inspiring in a way that’s sadly missing from suburban Catholicism. Now, though, I’m not such an aesthete, and realize that the most humble chapel or roller-rink parish, as long as it has the reserved sacrament, contains what’s - or Who - is truly essential. Still, what an incredible heritage of beauty!
